There is many varieties of peonies in the pale shades of yellows, between pale yellow and cream. They are almost unknow on the market. Those varieties are usually rare in production, are mainly early bloomers (many weeks before the big doubles) and most of them bear simple flower form. Prairie Moon (simple to semi-double), Roy Pehrson Best Yellow ( simple), Goldilocks (a rare bomb type double) are few exemples.
BUT, from the last 10-15 years, 2 new varieties have appeared on the market with a high demand because they have TRUE YELLOW flowers with absolutely gorgeous fragrance: Sunny Girl et Lemon Chiffon. Rare and very expensive Their main advantage: a very good vase life compare to the intersectional yellow peonies from Category 1.
BGood shiny foliage. Strong stems but less than the intersectional yellows.
Flower's bud open as the regular double, between 24-48 hours with a vase life of about a week.
So, if you need floral arrangements in yellow tones and a longer vase life, they are mor suitable for your needs.
Always with the yellows: limited plants and so....limited cut flowers. Available the first 2 weeks of June usually.
